It happened around 10:40 p.m. Sunday, June 6 In Ronkonkoma.

Scott Dawes Jr., of the Town of Franklin in upstate New York, was riding a 2017 Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the right lane of the westbound expressway at exit 60 when he struck the rear of a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Suffolk County Police said.

The Jeep was driven by Haci Ozgun, age 46, of Ronkonkoma, according to police.

Dawes was ejected into the HOV lane where he was struck by a 2012 Honda, driven by Jasper Oberfelder-Riehm, age 27, of New York City, according to police.

Dawes was pronounced dead at the scene by an ambulance unit from the Ronkonkoma Fire Department, police said. 

Ozgun and Oberfelder-Riehm were not injured.

All three vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
